    You can pay by credit card when booking a ticket at We accept MasterCard, VISA and American Express. Depending on the country in which the booking is made, you may also have the option to pay using a Diners Club, JCB (Japan Credit Bureau) or UATP/Airplus card.

    On pay page choose payment options, next select the organization that issued the credit card. Enter all necessary details and confirm your booking. Once your payment has been authorized, you will be sent an e-ticket and payment confirmation by e-mail.


    Your payment details will be encoded and sent using a secure connection. You can check the security details by clicking with your right mouse button on the payment page and then selecting ‘Properties’. A window will pop up containing all connection data. The ‘Connection’ field shows that an SSL connection is used. Your credit card information, including the number and expiry date, will not be stored.

    Verified by Visa and MasterCard Secure Code

    Some banks offer holders of Visa or MasterCard an additional security measure in the form of a PIN code or password. This tells both the bank and us that you are the rightful owner or user of the card. If your card is eligible for the ‘Verified by Visa’ or ‘MasterCard Secure Code’ security measure, you will be asked to enter your PIN code or password. The payment will only be accepted if the correct code or password is entered.

    If your bank offers this extra security measure but your card is not yet part of this programme, your bank may ask during the payment process if you wish to subscribe to this security option. This is called ‘Activation during Shopping’ and we have no influence on this process. Participation in Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code takes place through a direct link to your bank. Kenya airways have no access or control over this information. Once you have signed up for this service, you can complete your booking.

    Amount Reserved on your Credit Card

    When using a credit card for a booking on, you may see within a few days that your bank account is charged with the amount needed for your purchase. In fact, your bank only reserves this amount until Kenya Airways finalizes your payment, after which your account will actually be charged. This may take up to 30 days. During this time, the amount may be deducted from your spending limit.

    This procedure is outside of the control of Kenya Airways. If you wish, you can contact your bank to request the release of the reserved amount.

    To safeguard against credit/debit card fraud, the purchaser may have to show us the credit/debit card along with a valid photo ID. The time varies based on the billing address of the credit/debit card or the country of travel. If the purchaser is not traveling, they can show us their credit/debit card and ID at an airport ticket counter or another ticket office location, whichever is most convenient.
