There are a few important things to take note of when traveling to Luanda:
Quatro de Fevereiro is Luanda’s main airport and the largest in Angola. Plans and development are still underway for developing a new airport. It is best to have your own vehicle or arrange a form of transport/rental car from your booking or travel agent when visiting Luanda.
Luanda, formerly named São Paulo da Assunção de Loanda, is the capital city of Angola, and the country's most populous and important city, primary port and major industrial, cultural and urban center. It is located on the coast of Angola with the Atlantic Ocean. Only gaining independence in 1974, it is the world's third most populous Portuguese-speaking city. Thus it has a very continental, warm and inviting ambiance.

From Historical Forts such a Fortaleza de São Miguel to magnificent Churches such as Igreja Nossa Senhora, it as something to keep you busy for the duration of your trip. Other entertaining sights include; Miradouro da Lua, which has amazing natural geological structures and expansive views or take a 4x4 drive to Ship's Cemetery (Graveyard), for a photographic field day.
Ten minutes on a boat takes you to a quaint island, where you can spend the day swimming, sunbathing or having BBQ lunch/dinner of fresh fish. If you go further into the island, you can experience the local culture. Or for a fresh breath of air experience visit Avenida 4 de Fevereiro with Jogging Paths & Tracks, Biking Trails, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities it’s wonderful for the whole family. Being a coastal town the beaches are a highlight one of the best is. Cabo Ledo, well known as a surfers beach, the landscape it’s beautiful, calm, has clean sand and great restaurants, mainly the "Carpe Diem". Another notable beach is Sagano, a quiet secluded beach surrounded by wonderful restaurants. Luanda also has a wonderful diving program for you to explore the surrounding oceans.
