Nairobi June 19, 2014 – National carrier Kenya Airways has today awarded its top freight forwarding agents.
Bollore Africa Logistics Kenya Limited was named top overall cargo agent for imports while Chemka Limited took top honours for exports.
Speaking at the event, Kenya Airways’ Group Managing Director and CEO, Titus Naikuni said that the airline will continue cultivating healthy relationships with cargo agents with the goal of consistently growing its cargo business.
“The support from freight forwarding agents has been instrumental in driving the success and growth of our cargo business. Today, cargo accounts for 10 per cent of our total group revenues and we aim to continue growing this important segment,” Dr Naikuni added.
In its 2012/2013 full year financial results, Kenya Airways grew total cargo uplifted by 11.8 per cent to 69,871 tonnes from 62,504 tonnes the previous year.
During the Kenya Airways Cargo Agents Awards 2014, Green International Services emerged top exports agent in Ethiopia, Luft Logistics Company Limited was top exports agent in Tanzania, Dianbbai Marine Uganda Limited in in Uganda.
Aven Freight scooped top position in new agents in Kenya. Cargo Plan Movers & Forwarders was the most improved agent in imports while Signet was most improved agent in exports. Aramex Kenya was most improved agent in courier operations.
For the different product categories, Bollore Africa Logistics was the best in general cargo; Jorgensen for live cargo, AIRFLO in flower exports and Freight Wings in fresh vegetables/fruit exports. DHL World Wide Express was top courier agent.
Regionally, Total Touch was the best in exports to Far East, Morgan was best in air exports to the rest of Africa as well as to Johannesburg while Maya emerged top in exports to Middle East
