    At Kenya Airways we are committed to using sound and responsible practices to protect the Safety and Health of our employees and other persons, including visitors and contractors providing service or affected by our activities in strict compliance with statutory, industry and company approved procedures that assure the highest possible Health & Safety protection standards.


    This policy applies to all activities carried out by or on behalf of Kenya Airways and its subsidiaries. Its implementation is a key management objective and the responsibility of every employee. Occupational Health and safety issues shall be addressed in a systematic, proactive and explicit manner to ensure that they are integral part of the day-to-day business of the organization.

    To achieve this, we shall:

    1. Comply with, and wherever possible, exceed legislative and regulatory requirements and international standards while conforming to company standards.
    2. Establish and operate hazard identification and risk management processes, including a hazard reporting system, in order to eliminate or mitigate the safety risks of the consequences of hazards resulting from our operations or activities to a point which is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
    3. Ensure that no action will be taken against any employee who discloses a safety or quality concern through the hazard reporting system, unless such disclosures, beyond any reasonable doubt, an illegal act, gross negligence or a deliberate or willful disregard of regulations or procedures.
    4. Require each employee to take individual and collective responsibility for the health and safety performance of themselves, fellow employees, customers, and the company.
    5. Ensure that equipment and tools are maintained in a safe and serviceable state and that their design remains effective for the use intended.
    6. Set targets and objectives for purposes of measuring and monitoring performance on Safety, Health and Quality.
    7. Establish acceptable Health and Safety Management systems and ensure their continual improvement.
    8. Conduct periodic and regular training, education and awareness sessions to staff and other persons or organizations working for or on behalf of Kenya Airways in order to induce a positive safety culture, promote implementations of work instructions and practices, and enhance job competence.
    9. Provide all necessary resources that will result in an organizational culture that fosters safe practices, encourages effective safety reporting and communication, and actively manages health, safety, and quality.
    10. Actively encourage communication and exchange of ideas and information with all interested parties on matters applicable to our programs.

    *This policy is a key part of the Company's overall business to provide safe, secure, and efficient product and will be continuously reviewed by Senior Management at a minimum of every two (2) years to ensure its effectiveness in achieving set objectives.
