Kenya Airways will temporarily suspend flights to Paris with effect from 26th February 2008.  This follows sharp declines in bookings on this route occasioned by the French Government’s blanket advisory against travel to Kenya.  Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni however remains optimistic saying, “we will monitor the situation on a monthly basis and we are hopeful that we will resume Paris flights for the summer high season once the French Government’s travel advisory has been removed.” Some markets like the UK give qualified travel advisories where they advise against travel to certain areas only and as such we have seen some sustained flow of tourists from the UK to Nairobi and Mombasa.
 
Kenya Airways began thrice weekly flights to Paris  in October 2006.  Though most of the passengers on this route are tourists, the French Diplomatic and business community have also greatly benefited from the direct connection to Paris. This suspension will also impact upon travellers from the Greater Lakes Region of Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and from the Indian Ocean Islands such as Seychelles and Comoros.

Kenya Airways passengers seeking other connections through Europe can still fly via London Heathrow’s Airport or via Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport
