Kenya Airways to suspend Kisumu flights
Monday, August 31, 2009: Kenya Airways will suspend its daily flights to Kisumu effective September 7, 2009.
The airline attributed the suspension to the ongoing repairs and renovation of the Kisumu Airport runway by the Kenya Airports Authority. The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of November 2009.
“Kenya Airways reached the decision to suspend its operations to Kisumu because it is no longer commercially viable to operate due to the reduced pay loads on the Embraer 170 jet”, said Kenya Airways Commercial Director Mohan Chandra.
He thanked all Kenya Airways customers on this route for the continued support and promised to offer its best services on the resumption of the operation.
Kisumu Airport is the third busiest airport in the country after Moi International Airport, Mombasa and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi.
