    Kenya Airways sustained profitability in the financial year ended 31 March 2012 despite the challenging economic and geopolitical environment witnessed throughout the year.  Factors that negatively impacted the airline industry in the period included high fuel prices, euro-zone crisis and a generally weak economy in the West.  The airline carried over 3.6 million passengers by the end of March 2012 indicating a year on year growth of over half a million passengers.   During the year, Kenya Airways successfully launched three new destinations namely Ndjamena, Ouagadougou and Jeddah.

  • Kenya Airways Releases its Operating Results for the Fourth Quarter ended 31st Mar 2012.

    The company put into the market place capacity totalling 3,290m seat kilometres which was at par with last year’s level.  There were compensating changes evidenced in the network with incremental destinations launched to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), N’djamena (Chad) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) while Europe shrunk due to capacity rationalization.

  • Kenya Airways Operating Performance 3rd Quarter; Oct-Dec 2011

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the third quarter ended 31st Dec 2011.
    The company put into the market place capacity totalling 3,560m seat kilometres which was 6.5% better than last year’s level as a result of increased frequencies to several destinations and the launch of Jeddah operations in the third quarter.
    Capacity offered into Europe registered a 14.9% growth compared to the same quarter of prior year due to introduction of flights to Rome and double daily weekend flights to London. The capacity into Middle East, Far East and India regions remained at par compared to same period last year.

    Kenya Airways recorded improved profitability in the half year ended 30 September 2011 compared to the prior year.  This was realised despite the challenging economic and geopolitical environment that continues to impact the aviation industry.  Factors that negatively impacted the airline industry in the period included the high fuel prices, Eurozone crisis and shocks in Japan.

     Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the second quarter ended 30th Sep 2011. 

     

    The company put into the market place capacity totalling 3,639m seat kilometres which was 7.3% better than last year’s level as a result of incremental destinations launched in the second half of 2010 to Rome (Italy), Nampula (Mozambique) and Malindi (Kenya) while N’Djamena (Chad) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) were launched in the first half of 2011.

     Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the first quarter ended 30th Jun 2011. 

     

    The company put into the market place capacity totalling 3,386m seat kilometres which was 20.3% better than last year’s level as a result of incremental destinations launched in the second half of 2010 to Rome(Italy), Luanda(Angola), Nampula(Mozambique), Malindi(Kenya), N’Djamena(Chad) and direct flights to Malabo(Equatorial Guinea) and Nsimalen(Cameroun).

    Kenya Airways recorded two historic milestones during the financial year ended 31 March 2011 despite the challenging economic and geopolitical environment witnessed in quarter four. For the first time in its history, the airline surpassed the 3 million passenger mark during March 2011. In the same financial year, the airline turnover exceeded the one billion US dollar mark.    The Airline successfully launched five new destinations namely Muscat, Juba, Luanda, Nampula, Rome and re-introduced the Malindi route.

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the fourth quarter ended 31st Mar 2010…

     

    The airline availed 2,938m seat kilometres in capacity indicating a growth of 9% over prior year.  This increase was driven by the inauguration of seven new destinations within Africa as well as the reinstatement of frequencies to a number of existing routes whose operations had previously been cut back owing to the world’s economic slump.

  • Kenya Airways Operating Performance: 3rd QTR – Oct to Dec 2009

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the third quarter ended 31st Dec 2009.

    The airline put into the market place capacity of 3,179m seat kilometres representing a year on year growth of 5%. This increase, though largely attributable to the successful launches of operations into seven new destinations within Africa in 2009, was adversely impacted by the delayed replacement of one B767 whose lease expired within the first quarter of the year. The reduction of global traffic also necessitated tactical capacity cut-backs in Europe and Asia.

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the first quarter ended 30th Jun 2009.

    The airline offered a capacity of 2,821m seat kilometres resulting in a 10% growth over prior year’s level of 2,567m seat kilometres.  The increase was mainly due to the introduction of two new destinations into the KQ network, Brazzaville in April 2009 and Libreville in June 2009 coupled with additional operations to Charles de Gaulle, Bujumbura, Kigali and Johannesburg.

  • Kenya Airways Operating Performance; 3rd Qtr Oct to Dec 2008

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the third quarter ended 31st Dec 2008.

    The airline offered a capacity of 3,035m seat kilometres to the market during this quarter with a growth of 7% over prior year’s level of 2,835m seat kilometres in the same period.  The growth was mainly the result of the additional operations to Guangzhou, the daily Lusaka night time flights introduced in the summer of this year and increased frequencies to Lagos.
