Kenya Airways Education Infrastructure in Nyanza Kenya As part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, Kenya Airways invested over KES 2M by constructing a new block of classrooms in Ongora Primary school in Rongo constituency. The project, part of the airline’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, will help improve the learning environment in the school leading to better performance by the students. The school is located near the border of Kenya and Tanzania in Nyanza Province. “This investment to the community targets to ensure that students access better learning facilities in a conducive school environment. It also targets quality education for the students to possess skills relevant in today’s employment requirements,” noted Dr. Titus Naikuni, Kenya Airways Chief Executive during the handing over of the classrooms. Rongo Member of Parliament, Hon. Dalmas Otieno, noted his appreciation on behalf of the community to the airline for the initiative to improve their education infrastructure citing that Education was key to the economic development of the country. Dr. Naikuni further committed to Kenya Airways developing more classrooms in the school in the coming future. Dr. Naikuni pointed out that Kenya Airways will continue to support education sector in the whole country because the airline also depends heavily on skilled labor which can only be achieved through proper education. After touring the school and seeing the bad condition the other classrooms were Dr. Naikuni committed to build two more classrooms. These makes Kenya airways total sponsorship for the school to be Ksh4million. Kenya Airways offers support to communities in countries that it operates; namely in the areas of education, environment, water and health as part of its contribution to the sustainable development of its destinations.
