The Netherlands is located in Western Europe, beside the North Sea. Germany is to its east and Belgium to its south. 33,889 square kilometers of land area is made of coastal lowlands, reclaimed land and genteel hills on the southeast. Almost half of the Netherlands is below sea level and was once not fit for habitation until the locals began digging dikes and reclaiming land from the sea. Netherlands population is estimated to be 16.25 million.

Although the seat of Netherlands government is in The Hague, Amsterdam is the nominal capital. It is also the country's largest city. The warmest weather is from June to August, with temperatures between 21 - 26 degrees Celsius. There are rarely extreme temperatures.

The second is Frisian, a minority language used in the North of the country. In Amsterdam, majority of the people speak English and German fluently. French is a language, which is widely understood but hardly spoken.Their main exports include Metal products, machinery and equipment, chemicals, fuels, processed food and tobacco.
