  • Kenya Airways Launch Freighter Service

    Freighter will enhance airline’s revenue and cargo uplift on key Afro-Asian routes

    Nairobi, February 21, 2012….Kenya Airways and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have jointly launched the first direct freighter service between mainland China and Africa. This also marks Kenya Airways entry into Freighter service with a dedicated Boeing 747F. 

    The Boeing 747-400F cargo freighter, unveiled in Nairobi on Tuesday, is expected to significantly boost the airline’s capacity to airlift cargo between its growing Asian and African markets while realizing higher earnings from cargo as a distinct revenue source.

    Move signifies partnership with alliance which flies to 926 destinations and 173 countries

    Nairobi, February 14, 2012…….Kenya Airways has painted one of its Boeing 737-700 aircraft  in SkyTeam livery  to signify its position as Africa’s representative to the global  airline alliance.  

    The aircraft will have SkyTeam branding on its tail and fuselage in addition to the Kenya Airways logo thus symbolizing the mutual benefits of the partnership.

  • IATA renews IOSA and ISAGO certifications Kenya Airways feted by International Air Transport Association (IATA)

    Kenya Airways feted by International Air Transport Association (IATA) Kenya Airways’ safety improvement initiatives received a major endorsement from the global aviation association.

    The International Air Travel Association (IATA) presented Kenya Airways with two certifications following a rigorous safety audit of the airline’s operations. These are the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certificates.

  • Kenya Airways Operating Performance 3rd Quarter; Oct-Dec 2011

    Kenya Airways releases its operating results for the third quarter ended 31st Dec 2011.
    The company put into the market place capacity totalling 3,560m seat kilometres which was 6.5% better than last year’s level as a result of increased frequencies to several destinations and the launch of Jeddah operations in the third quarter.
    Capacity offered into Europe registered a 14.9% growth compared to the same quarter of prior year due to introduction of flights to Rome and double daily weekend flights to London. The capacity into Middle East, Far East and India regions remained at par compared to same period last year.

  • KQ Masai Mara Marathon

    “Run, so that the river can do the same”

    Nicholas Kipkemboi was crowned as the winner of this year’s KQ Masai Mara Marathon that was held in the Mara North Conservancy on Saturday, 19th November 2011. He beat a field of over 2,500 runners with an impressive time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 28 seconds.

    The little known marathoner has not participated in any national or international races but he described the race as being tough. He sees the race as a launching pad for bigger races, “The competition was tough but I managed to give it my best. I look forward to taking part in bigger races in future,” said Kipkemboi.

    Dr. Naikuni was elected to the IATA board at the conclusion of the Association’s 67th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Singapore on 6th June. He was also appointed to the 2012 Nominating committee. This committee has the responsibility of nominating candidates to the IATA Board of Governors.

    With this appointment Dr. Naikuni returns to the IATA Board having served for four years from 2004 to 2009.
